Meet the Team

Marilyn Schultz

Marilyn grew up in Nashua, Iowa, home of The Little Brown Church. She moved to the Okoboji area from Eldora, Iowa in 1985 with her two sons, Andy and Brock. Andy and his wife Dawn now live in Minnetonka, Minnesota, while Brock lives in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Marilyn's background includes 13 years in the grocery business as a trainer and in accounting, followed by 20 years of management in the automotive industry.

She enjoys working in the fast paced, upbeat atmosphere of Parks Marina, a place she admired since purchasing boats from Butch in the past. Since coming aboard in 2007, Marilyn says she truly appreciates what terrific customers she has, making coming to work a true pleasure. It's great for her to be a part of the boat buying process and see how truly happy the customers are when they are enjoying their boat or relaxing at The Barefoot. Their troubles seem to disappear as they create great boating memories. Marilyn calls the Okoboji area "a paradise for all seasons." She considers herself very lucky to call these beautiful lakes home.

Darin Partello

An Armstrong, Iowa native, Darin grew up just west of the Iowa Great Lakes. His father called this area home growing up and he often heard family stories about Okoboji. He recalls a favorite early memory of his own: learning to dive off the diving board at the Shamrock Motel in Spirit Lake! After graduating high school in Armstrong, Darin went on to receive his B.A. in Music Education from Wartburg College, after also attending Waldorf College. Darin's college summers were spent living in Okoboji and working for Parks Marina. His love of the water and the outdoor fun of boating brought him back to Parks Marina to begin his full-time career 17 years ago. With much of his family still in the area, Darin and his wife Rachel chose to settle here too and now raise two active boys, Parker and Phillip, ages 11 and 8.

In 2013, Darin was named the #1 Cobalt salesperson in the world. Based on volume of boat sales, his hard work and dedication to total customer satisfaction is unmatched. "Selling the best boats in the industry and offering great customer service and customer relationships is what makes my job and boating so great," says Partello. "My customers are more than clients, they are my friends. I want them to have the best experience because boating is all about having fun on the water and making memories that last."

Chad Miner

Growing up in nearby Estherville, Iowa, Chad was a town kid but his heart was in the country. He loved visiting his grandparent's farm. He also loved visiting his great grandparents in the Iowa Great Lakes near Gilly's Beach. He fondly recalls the short drive from Estherville with his family, competing as they drew close to see who could call out the first view of the lake. Chad says just being at the Lakes was mesmerizing to him at an early age.

Chad began his career with Parks Marina in 1997 in the service department. After spending some time in manufacturing and the boat lift industry, he returned to "the best marina around," Parks Marina, in 2011. Working in the marine industry was an easy choice for Chad. He loves how boats and water seem to make people excited about life. He's made great memories and built lifelong relationships around boating and he wants to share that opportunity with his customers. Chad thinks being a guy and loving boats just go hand in hand.

Dan Delperdang

Dan was raised in the northwest Iowa town of Granville. Growing up, his family had a cabin on Little Spirit Lake that he loved spending time at. He has enjoyed boating his entire life! From row boats to fishing boats, ski boats to pleasure boats, boating is in his blood.

After graduating from the local Granville-Spalding High School, Dan went on to graduate from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa with a teaching degree. While working in education and coaching, Dan realized he was always meant to be in the "people" business. Moving to the Iowa Great Lakes permanently in the mid 80's was an easy decision for him. "If you are going to live in Iowa, there is no better place than Okoboji. There is plenty to do year round in this wonderland," Dan says. Dan's love for the water and boating brought him to Parks Marina in the early 90's. Dan started in the Parts and Accessories Department but soon moved into Sales. Dan loves helping people create memories that will last a lifetime.

Happily married to Kolette for 22 years, Dan and his wife have three active daughters, Kaela (19), Kelsey (17) and Kourtney (14). Always enjoying sports and outdoor activities in all seasons, he and his wife know how boating can bring a family together. "Having three teenage children who still want to spend time with us in the boat and on the water is priceless," Dan shares. "Living in Okoboji and having access to boats is also great because our friends love to come and visit." Come visit with Dan and his love for boating will rub off on you.

Megan Carstens

A hometown girl, Megan grew up in Arnolds Park spending her summer days with friends riding bikes to the lake, swimming off the pier at the amusement park, and hanging out at the Sugar Shack in the Emporium. Growing up a 'Boji girl, the Lakes will always have a special place in her heart.

Megan graduated from Okoboji Community Schools in 2000, then from Buena Vista University in 2004 with a Bachelors degree in Business Management & Entrepreneurship. She, like many Parks Marina staff, began her career here with a summer position bartending for 4 summers. She is quick to say that "F-U-N!" is the reason she enjoys working in the boating industry. "We have so much to offer for people of all ages. I like seeing people's faces light up when they walk down the dock and board their new boat. It warms my heart to know that they will get to enjoy time with their family, and create memories together that will last a lifetime."

Megan and husband John just recently expanded her family with their son, Kipton, arriving on December 5th, 2014. In her spare time, Megan enjoys golfing, traveling, and of course spending time with her family and friends on the waters of Lake Okoboji. She is anxious to start creating boating memories with her son and having him grow to love Okoboji just as much as she does.

Jamie Johnson

Originally from Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Jamie remembers spending the month of August with his family in a cabin on Big Spirit for several years. As a kid, he loved spending his day walking the shoreline with a fishing pole in his hand or joining his family skiing, tubing, or knee boarding behind their boat. Most of his favorite family memories involve the Lakes.

After receiving his degree in Education from Westmar University in LeMars, Iowa and enjoying a teaching/coaching career in Estherville, Jamie was drawn to help out at a Parks Marina Open House one summer. The following fall he made a career move, joining Park Marina in 2000.

Among his many accomplishments, he was named the #1 salesperson in the world for Cobalt Boat sales for 2015. This recognition is based on sales volume and measures against the sales performance of Cobalt boats worldwide.

Today, Jamie continues to enjoy the casual atmosphere of working at Parks and not being stuck behind a desk. His favorite part of the job has been the number of people he has met over the years and the relationships he has built with them. He seems to run into friends everywhere he goes.
