Parks Marina in Okoboji utilized the popularity of their host of Facebook pages in an effort to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

“We have tens of thousands of customers that follow our social media, says,” Butch Parks, owner of Parks Marina. “Our idea was to donate one of our popular Maui Mats, and put it up for auction on our Facebook pages.  The highest bid received would donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey victims and the high bidder would take a Maui Mat home. ”

Closing bids were taken up to 4 pm on Labor Day with the highest bid of $500 coming from Skyler Roder of Clive, IA. The winning bid was announced to a large crowd awaiting the Labor Day Dock Party at The Barefoot Bar.

“We wish to thank our many customers who bid on the Maui Mat and for Skyler Roder’s very charitable bid. “says Debbie Parks, head of Parks Marina’s Marketing department, “ Parks Marina also committed to a portion of proceeds be donated from the sale of Stand Up Paddle Boards over the Labor Day Weekend. We are proud to be presenting The Red Cross with a check for $700 on behalf of Parks Marina and our generous customers.”

Parks Marina is located in Okoboji, IA.
