Parks Marina raises funds for local Charities during 38th Winter Games

Posted on February 7, 2018 in Press Releases

Co-sponsored by The Barefoot Bar, Absolut & Southern Comfort, the 6th Annual Battle of the Bartenders held on Thursday night of Winter Games garnered an impressive $7,565 for the Lane Fredrick Family and their Anti-Bullying campaign. Twenty area restaurants and pubs participated in this year’s event. Each created a unique cocktail and decorated a tip jar in hopes of drawing tips from the record breaking crowd of tasters. The participant raising the most money in tips would have the honor of giving all of the evening’s donations to their charity of choice. The 2018 winner was Katt Flockhart of The Outback Lounge. The Battle of the Bartenders has raised nearly $22,000 in its six years as a Winter Games kickoff event.

The Human Dogsled Races, now in its 4th year at Parks Marina, drew 12 teams, 48 participants and attracted over 1,000 on lookers. $360 was raised and matched by the event co-sponsor, Doll Distributing of Spencer, IA. $720 will go to the Children’s Home Society in Sioux Falls, SD.

The 2nd Annual Keg Toss held on West Lake Okoboji in front of The Central Emporium & the Gardens in Arnolds Park donated its proceeds of $315 to the Arnolds Parks/Okoboji Fire and Rescue.

“We thank all of the businesses who participated in these events,” says Debbie Parks, Marketing Director at Parks Marina. “It’s the generous spirit of those who played and those who came to give that truly exemplify the core values of our community and the Winter Games.”

Parks Marina continues to not only be dedicated to the service and care of its customers, but also to the Iowa Great Lakes Region and its surrounding communities.
