Celebrating 35 years in business Parks Marina was proud to host the presentation of two “Folds of Honor” educational scholarships to local military families during Park’s annual celebration for Cobalt Boat owners entitled “The American Dream” on Friday, August 3rd.  The awarding of scholarships took place at the Parks Boat House and in cooperation with Doll Distributing, distributers of Anheuser-Busch in Spencer for the scholarship presentation and Salute to Veterans weekend at The Barefoot Bar.

The Folds of Honor program is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2007 providing educational scholarships to families of  military men and women who have fallen or been disabled in combat while serving in the United States armed forces.

The Folds of Honor scholarships were presented by Rocky Sickmann, Senior Vice President of Budweiser accounts for Folds of Honor.  Mr. Sickmann served as a United States Marine Corps Sergeant and was held hostage for 444 days at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran during the Iranian Hostage Crisis from November 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981. Mr. Sickmann is also the author of “Iranian Hostage: A Personal Diary of 444 Days in Captivity”.

The recipients for the scholarships were Ann Dunlavey from Jackson, MN a junior at South Dakota State University majoring in Health Education/Pre-Occupational Therapy and David Harrington from Adrian, MN who will be a freshman at Minnesota West and studying Liberal Arts.
