Celebrating 35 years in business, Parks Marina has partnered with Doll Distributing in Spencer to
Award “Folds of Honor” educational scholarships to local military families. The scholarships will be awarded during Parks Marina’s annual celebration for Cobalt Boat owners this year entitled “The American Dream” on Friday, August 3rd at the Parks Boat House located at Parks Marina in Okoboji, IA.
The Folds of Honor program is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2007 providing educational scholarships to families of military men and women who have fallen or been disabled in combat while serving in the United States armed forces.
The Folds of Honor scholarships will be awarded to local military families of Northwest Iowa and Southwest Minnesota and presented by Rocky Sickmann, Senior Vice President of Budweiser accounts for Folds of Honor. Mr. Sickman served as a United States Marine Corps Sergeant and was held hostage for 444 days at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran during the Iranian Hostage Crisis from November 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981. Mr. Sickman is also the author of “Iranian Hostage: A Personal Diary of 444 Days in Captivity”.
The night will also honor our military with the singing of the National Anthem by the 2017 Mrs. Iowa America, Jill Brees Barr, a 21 gun salute by Color Guard, a trio of singers featuring World War II era music, Drum Corps performance, giveaway of U.S. and State of Iowa flags that have flown over their respective capitols, release and flight of an American Eagle and a grand finale of a Fireworks extravaganza on the lakeside of Parks Marina.

Saturday, August 4th The Barefoot Bar will feature a chance to win an A2 Flight Bomber Jacket provided by Budweiser with free will donations to “Folds of Honor”, Budweiser will be featuring their “Freedom Reserve Lager” for those with Military ID and music provided by The Senders from 2 – 6 pm.
