10th Annual Boatloads of Toys Kicks Off

Parks Marina in Okoboji, Iowa and Upper Des Moines Opportunity have teamed up for the 10th consecutive year to launch Boat Loads of Toys; an effort to provide Christmas toys and clothing to youth in need throughout Dickinson county. Parks Marina’s Boat Loads of Toys has donated well over $26,000 in toys and clothing that have been distributed by Upper Des Moines Opportunity, to youth in Dickinson County and surrounding areas. 

Now through Saturday December 15th, bring an unwrapped new toy or new articles of clothing to Parks Marina, on East Lake Okoboji and Sioux Falls, South Dakota,  Okoboji Boat Works on West Lake Okoboji or Palm at the Park in the Central Emporium in Arnolds Park. As always, Upper Des Moines Opportunity gladly accepts donations for all ages, but this year they are needing Snow Pants all sizes, Winter Boots all sizes, & Winter Coats in sizes Youth 10 and bigger up to teen and adult sizes. Winter coats, snow pants, hats, gloves, & boots for any age are greatly appreciated. 

“The holidays are a wonderful time of year to get involved with charities and local organizations,” says Debbie Parks, Marketing Manager at Parks Marina.  “While it’s important to be involved in nationwide programs, there is still a lot of opportunity and assistance needed right here at home. Parks Marina’s Boatloads of Toys is a great way to get involved, and I encourage everyone to participate at any level.”

To encourage donations, Parks Marina and Okoboji Boat Works will offer a 20% shopping spree at all locations to those who donate. The coupon will be good on all Barefoot gear, apparel and select water accessories, as well as clothing from West Boutique, located at Okoboji Boat Works. 

Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc. (UDMO) is one of 18 Community Action Agencies in the State of Iowa and has been serving our communities since 1965.
