OKOBOJI, Iowa (KCAU) — Parks Marina in the Iowa Great Lakes is filling up a boat with toys so kids in the area can have a good holiday season.

Parks Marina, along with Upper Des Moines Opportunity in Dickinson County, is teaming up for the annual “Boatloads of Toys” fundraiser.

They are encouraging community members to bring in new and unwrapped toys to the marina and fill the pontoon they have set up for the event.

The toys will then be distributed to kids in need in the area in time for Christmas.

“Whether it’s a small item like a deck of cards, tricycles, there. Anything makes a difference to these kids. I look back on when I was a kid, and I was always sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next time to open up a toy. That’s the memory we’re trying to pass along to these kids. And it’s something we look forward to every single year.” Said Jared Ransom, Marketing Coordinator for Parks Marina.

You have until December 12 to bring in your toy. Donations can be dropped off at Parks Marina in Okoboji or in Sioux Falls.

This is the 17th year of the event.
