“GMA Goes to Iowa for University of Okoboji Winter Games”

ANCHOR (studio, upbeat):
Good Morning America is heading to Iowa today for a winter tradition that brings thousands of people out onto frozen lakes for a weekend of fun and friendly competition.

[Cut to field reporter on location]

MARY BRUCE (on location, smiling, bundled up):
Good morning from northwest Iowa, where winter isn’t something people hide from — it’s something they celebrate. We’re here for the University of Okoboji Winter Games, a decades-old tradition that turns frozen lakes into one giant playground.

[B-roll: crowds, flags, snowmobiles, people cheering]

MARY BRUCE (voiceover):
Every year, thousands of people make their way here to take part in events that range from the competitive to the completely ridiculous — all in the name of winter fun.

[Cut to people racing, tossing objects, cheering]

MARY BRUCE (voiceover):
There are athletic competitions, costume contests, and events that require more enthusiasm than skill.

[Quick interview clip with a participant]

PARTICIPANT:
It’s cold, but that’s part of the fun. You just embrace it.

[Cut back to Mary Bruce on the ice]

MARY BRUCE:
The University of Okoboji isn’t a real university — but don’t tell that to the people who proudly wear its colors.

[B-roll: University of Okoboji flags, apparel, signage]

MARY BRUCE (voiceover):
Founded in 1909, the “University” has become a symbol of community spirit, bringing locals and visitors together year after year.

[Interview clip with event organizer or longtime participant]

ORGANIZER:
This is about tradition. Families have been coming here for generations. People plan their whole winter around it.

[Cut to crowd shots: kids, adults, music playing]

MARY BRUCE (voiceover):
From ice skating and broomball to races across the frozen lake, the Winter Games are as much about camaraderie as competition.

[Short clips of laughter, cheering, music]

PARTICIPANT:
You come for the games, but you stay for the people.

[Mary Bruce on camera, wind blowing, lively background]

MARY BRUCE:
And whether you’re competing, cheering, or just soaking it all in, there’s one thing everyone here agrees on —

[Crowd chanting / cheering]

MARY BRUCE:
Winter in Iowa is something to celebrate.

[Cut back to studio]

ANCHOR (smiling):
Looks like a lot of fun — and a lot of cold! Thanks so much, Mary.
