Event Coordinator

Parks Marina is now accepting applications for the role of Event Coordinator for Parks Boat Club and the Parks
Marina Campus, in Okoboji, IA. The Event Coordinator is responsible for the sales, booking, coordination, and
production of all public and private events occurring at Parks Boat Club. Candidate must be highly organized and
excel in verbal and written communication.

This position will work directly with the Food and Beverage Manager as well as the Marketing Coordinator. Evening,
holiday and weekend work is required. Hours will vary with overtime required during high tourist season.

Duties Include:

  • Sales, planning and execution of private events for all Parks Marina campus locations. 
  • Organization and execution for public events at Parks Boat Club and Parks Marina properties. 
  • Co-Planning and executions of public events for Parks Marina, including but not limited to all private and public customer appreciation events and the employee Christmas party. 
  • Communication and planning with Parks Boat Club clients to ensure success in events.
  • Maintaining incomes and expense of public and private events at Parks Boat Club. 
  • Leading event and catering staff during events hosted on the Parks Marina campus. 
  • Plan menus and host food tasting with clients.
  • Room design including planning, set-up and tear down is required.
  • Liaison between Parks Boat Club/Snappers event staff to customer.
  • Coordination of various social media pages for Parks Boat Club including Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
  • Formulating ideas to generate additional business and revenue of Parks Boat Club.
  • Working with vendors to ensure proper products and costs. 
  • Fill in at front of house when called upon.

Requirements of the Position:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, without assistance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Occasional Public speaking.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Software including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Google Software including Google Docs, Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, and Google Keep.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and willingness to learn new platforms as they arise.
  • Knowledge of Adobe programs preferred but not required. Programs include Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. 
  • Experience in catering and food preparations required. 
  • Experience in management required. 
  • Experience in event coordination is required. 
  • Marketing experience in design, social media, and campaigns preferred but not required. 

Pay will commensurate with experience.
