Event Operations Manager
Parks Marina is accepting applications for the role of Event Operations Manager for Parks Boat Club and the Parks
Marina Campus, in Okoboji, IA. The Event Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of various events, ensuring they run smoothly and successfully. The role involves managing a support team, collaborating with various departments, and ensuring all logistical and operational aspects of events are flawlessly executed. The Event Operations Manager plays a critical role in delivering exceptional experiences for our clients, attendees, and ownership.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and guest services, with experience in coordinating events such as weddings, corporate banquets, reunions, fundraisers and other contract events. Experience working in the food and beverage field is also a plus!
This position will work directly with the Food and Beverage Manager as well as the Marketing Manager. Evening,
holiday and weekend work is required. Hours will vary with overtime required during high tourist season.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Sales, planning and execution of private events for all Parks Boat Club and Park Marina properties.
- Organization and execution for public events at Parks Boat Club and Parks Marina properties.
- Co-Planning and execution of public events for Parks Marina, including but not limited to all private and public customer appreciation events, holiday parties, and Winter Games.
- Communication and planning with Parks Boat Club clients to ensure success in events.
- Communication with vendors and staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Maintain income and expenses of public and private events at Parks Boat Club.
- Lead event and catering staff during events hosted on the Parks Marina campus.
- Plan menus and host food tasting with clients.
- Room layout including planning, set-up and tear down is required.
- Liaison between Parks Boat Club/Snappers event staff to customer.
- Formulating ideas to generate additional business and revenue of Parks Boat Club.
- Working with vendors to ensure proper products and costs.
- Fill in at Snapper's front of house when called upon.
- Attend bridal fairs to promote Boat Club and Parks Marina
- Create new vendor relations and maintain existing vendor relations.
- Generate BEO, invoices & collect deposits and final payments
Requirements of the Position:
- Ability to lift and carry supplies including but not limited to tables, chairs, AV equipment, food platters, serving dishes, or other items without assistance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, take direction and work independently with a variety of groups and employees to achieve goals.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Software including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Google Software including Google Docs, Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, and Google Keep.
- Ability to use Planning Pod software or similar event planning software.
- Experience in catering and food preparations required.
- Experience in event coordination, planning and execution.
- Ability to meet or exceed deadlines while managing multiple projects
- Generate new business, maintain repeat clientele, and offer suggestions for growth/continued success
- Spearhead involvement in community events
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational, project, and time management skills, ability to self-direct time spent and communicate needs.
